1999 WPA Conference: Questions for Discussion at Session B.5

  1. What would it mean to finish the document?  What are the uses you might put it to?  How would it affect the job you do?
  2. Should the document be longer and more detailed?  What specific points should be included if it expanded?
  3. Should the document be written in an entirely different voice?
  4. What theories do you see informing the document; what rhetorical problems do those theoretical influences raise within the profession, and how do we address them?
  5. How much attention should this statement pay to the technologies for writing?  To what extent, in particular, do newer technologies need to be foregrounded in a statement about outcomes for first-year composition?
