NSSE
Results Released on November 10 Provide Opportunity to Promote Writing in Your Local Context
On November 10, 2008, USA TODAY online and Inside Higher Ed publicized new results from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
that you can use to promote writing and the services of your WAC/WID program on
your campus in you area.
USA
TODAY reports, “When
courses provide extensive, intellectually challenging writing activities, the
NSSE report found, students engage in a variety of positive activities. They
are more likely to analyze, synthesize and integrate ideas from various
sources. They grapple more with course ideas both in and out of the classroom.
And they report greater personal, social, practical and academic development.”
The USA TODAY and Inside Higher Ed articles are based on information in the NSSE's 2008
Annual Report [PDF].
