The TAAS was a waste of time. I didn't like taking the test because it didn't cover the information we were recently learning. It covered stuff that every student learned when they were in middle school and forgot by the time they got to high school. The test took to long and really bored me to death. I didn't study for it because I had homework due the same day for a later class. I did good on the test in every section. I would never want to retake it. It was the stupidest test I ever took.

The TAAS was frightening at first but my school had taken so many steps as to help us that when it came there was nothing to be afraid of. I understood that the test was given in order to determine a students level of understanding. The subjects were basic Reading Writing and Math. While in middleschool I had taken the TAAS and mastered it. In high school I did the same. Many students did not master or even pass the test. The only thing I don't like about it is that SOME teachers are so worried about the exam and its standards that they would only teach the curriculums on the exam. Some teachers only went by the TAAS. I think when you are expected to give an exam to kids that they are suppose to pass, then you will be pressured to only cover the material of the exam. I personally did not enjoy being pulled out of class for “TAAS practice”. The TAAS was easy as I knew the basic problems and I knew what to expect. THe only thing I remember is that I didn't find it fair to determine a child's ability of understading and their comprehension by simple questions not based on the subject as a whole.

The TAAS was I feel a waste of my time. The larger portion of my high school and even middle school years went to preparation to take the TAAS and make the grades to make the school look good. Preparing for the test took time out of what the teacher wanted us to learn. The end result in my case is that I am not any smarter for preparing myself just for the test. After I learned that I passed the test an enormous weight was lifted from my shoulders. Overall the educational experience hindered me from learning all that I could learn.

The TAAS was not hard. Preparation was easy and helpful. It was a good experience overall.

The TAAS was stupid it serves no purpose other fatting peaples pockets. Quit waisting the time of the students and help them consetrate on TASP and SAT.

The TAAS was very simple I dont see how you can draw any conclusion about accademic back ground from it. Any person with a third grade education can probly pass it. I fell that I was taught to the test and the test was about nouthing I can really use.

The TAAS wasn't a hard test. I scored high enough on it to be exempt from the TASP test and I was glad for that. It was probably so easy because all throughout high school especially in English I was taught to write in a way that would appease the TAAS test. I strongly disagree with teaching to the test although my high grades were helped by it. I believe more emphasis needs to be placed on the individual student and not the school. Although schools should be held to a standard they shouldn't be forced to teach to the test and should strongly discouraged.

The TAAS while I was in high school was highly discussed and mandatory. During my English classes my classmates and I would go through many writing samples multiple choice questions and sentance structure questions. The writing samples were a collection of short one page stories. After reading the story we would answer a series of questions by reffering back to the story. Multiple choice questions consisted of punctuation definition and many analogy problems.

Preparing for the TAAS usually was a group effort. My English teachers would allow us to create a group of about five and work together on practice TAAS tests. Taking the reading/writing portion of the test was quite easy for me. The math sections weren't so well but that's besides the point. When I received my score I was proud, I received "Academic Recognition" for those sections of the test.

I believe the TAAS test was a successful tool to help challenge Texas students. My results of the TAAS gave me confidence to take further exams and go to college.

The TASS experience for me in high school was overbearing. For the whole year my english class was basical preparing us for the TASS test. For example we would write a essay every week and mostly concertrate on passing the reading and writting portion of TASS. Every two to three months we had to take a monk TASS test which helped prepared us for the TASS test. All I learned in my english class was how to write presuades essay and how to proofread the essay. I think all the writting and practice test we took prepeare us very well for the TASS test but when the test came everyone was tired because of all the practice test they tooked. If the teach did not emphasis too much on the TASS test I would have failed the TASS test. Since we were drill so much on practice test I was well prepared to take the test and pass the test with fling colors.

The Texas Assessment of Academic Skills Test otherwise known as TAAS was one of the easiest test I ever took in high school it seemed to be over subjects and concepts that were somewhat elementary. The TAAS test was not something that I would worry about this test was a joke to most of the student body especially honors kids. I was done with them in around 45 minutes and that gave me a couple of hours to sleep before the test was finally over. I also got academic recognition for making good grades on the different subjects. This test was not considered to be very hard by any of my teachers. We would devote one class session to going over TAAS material but the problem with that was that my teachers knew what we were capable of so the whole study process was a joke to the students and the teachers. Most kids were not challenged by the test although there are exceptions to every circumstance there were some people that did not do so well those people were probably the reason that the test was made so easy in the first place. TAAS was not the greatest test it was not challenging and it is really great that the test is no longer going to be used.
