Standardized tests are nothing but a waste of time and are simply a ploy to try and control the educational system so the state won't have to put any more thought into the subject.

TAAS experience for me as a whole was nothing of a challenge. Challenge constitutes for me offers any experience that requires a lot of effort to accomplish. As far as the TAAS test is concerned there was not a part of the test that required any challenge. The TAAS was given to standardize a lower then average ability for most of the people in high school. Of course I know that there are students that have a lower then average learning ability and I∆m not one to criticize them for their ability to learn. Yet as far as I∆m concerned the TAAS test was administered just to see if you fell above the average learning ability for most students.

TAAS testing did not require any study time prior to the test. The writing and reading samples were simple enough to where you can go through it quickly and easily. They involved easy reading samples and an easy essay that was graded on a 4 point grading scale. The math section of the test was simple in itself. The questions inside the test were simple mathematical problems and easily computed.

Overall the TAAS test wasn∆t too much of a challenge except for maybe having to sit in a quiet room for a long period of time. It could be counted as a learning experience for standardized testing in the future by knowing the environment of the test. The school had to be completely quiet during the test. No one was allowed to talk or walk around the halls. Also you were not allowed to move around or look at other people during the test. All of this could be very helpful for me in the future when taking standardized tests such as an MCAT for Medical School or any other test that would be administered as I continue my education.

TAAS for me was easy I didn't study all I did was show up and take the test and score in the top in texas

TAAS for me was very easy. All of it is mostly common sense. I never really studied for it ever even though teachers were always pushing us to pass. I swear it was the easiest test that I have ever had to. I got Academic Recognition without even trying in the mathematics and writing portion. I don't really have much else to say about it except that it felt that all teachers taught TAAS in high school and didn't even worry about teaching us stuff that we would actually need for college.

TAAS has been terriable for me. my junior year I failed math then passed it my senior year. Math sucks! I hate it. Writting is good I got a 4 on the prompt. Reading is ok it's just tireing b/c they put it on the last day when everyone is so tired of test they usally end up guessing on it all. all in all the TAAS was ok.

TAAS in my elementary school was very important. They concentrated on us learning about what to do on the TAAS than what we had to learn for that grade level. When I moved to Portland the TAAS was still important but we didn't spend so much time on it. In highschool the freshman and sophomores had to take a practice TAAS class which I thought was unbelievably boring. I'm a pretty good student in Math and English so I did well when the TAAS finally came around. But when it came to the writing part I wasn't so prepared. I got recognition in Math and English but not in Writing.

I think the TAAS is a waste of time for those who are smart enough. They should be exempt from taking the test so they can concentrate on education instead of the answers to this test.

TAAS is a worthless test. Teachers in school now simply teach the test. There is no value to the knowledge that the TAAS test requires us to learn. The TAAS test was the easiest test that I have ever taken. The only good thing that ever came from taking was the fact that as a junior and a senior in high school we got to go to school late and we got an extra 2 hrs. of sleep. The academic level of TAAS is very low. I had taken the TAAS test every year since the second grade and it seems like the exact same test every year. Including the fact that all the information you need to know to pass the TAAS test we learned in the second grade.

TAAS is in my opinion a worthless test. First of all your entire school career relies on one test. Through all grades students prepare for the test so they will do well instead of focusing on what we have been working on in class. The test itself was not extremely hard but I also dont have a problem making decent grades on standardized tests. I think it should not be a requirement for graduation and it is not a very good idea by the state. I did not enjoy it at all and found it quite useless to be taking such a test.

TAAS seemed like it didn't do much good from the standpoint of a student. Teachers always seemed to base their discussions or lesson plans around TAAS. I always wondered if their wasn't a TAAS would the teachers be more free to teach things we could use in the future. From my standpoint it looked as though students would be able to learn more if teachers weren't teaching the TAAS but REALLY teaching. I think that as students we missed many things in school especially since it always seemed the teachers were just preparing us for the TAAS. After the TAAS was over it seemed like school might as well have been too. TAAS wasn't that tough anyways. It just seemed like the teachers wanted to look good. In the end I think its a good idea to have a test like the TAAS but we have the SAT and ACT to take the place of it. The TAAS is just a waste of time it keeps the really bright kids from becoming really great students it just seems to hold everyone at the same point on the IQ scale.

TAAS Test was pretty essay because I prepare my self to pass it the first time and I would have to worried about it. The problems were pretty simple so a litte hard b ut nothing extremely hard. I guess because I really set my goal to pass it because many people would tell me that I was not going to pass the test. They told me that many students that English is their first language had troble passing it I was not going to pass it because English is my second language. So anything is possible if you are willing to do it. My school really help alot because they had lots of ways to help us. We had several teachers help student to pass the TAAS.
