I think that the TAAS test wasn't all that hard but on the other hand
it was very hard for some people. I think that too much is made about the test because
I know when I was in high school there was such a big deal made every single
year about the stupid test. I do think the test is somewhat important but I do
not think it's as important as say the S.A.T or A.C.T. As far as what I would
do to change all of this I would first like to say that I would not keep making
the test easier so people can pass it that's rediculous everyone should have to
take and pass the same test that I took when I was a sophmore in high school. I
also would like to say that no matter what is done or being done at the present
moment in time that regardless of how you try to help kids in high school it
won't make a bit of difference I know when I was in I never listened to anyone
about that although I wish I would have.

I think that the whole TAAS test testing system is a big joke coming
from me (a student). The English portion was so easy I know that they prepare
us for this major test, “we have to pass to graduate" and all the test is,
is like find the main idea and other simple things. Its not even the work that
we are cababile of doing. The level is that of an 5th grader, which is
something my cousin can pass. All the material that was covered my sophmore
year English class was suppost to help us make a good grade. How is this only
when they only test for the basic knowledge? The test should be harder and
cover more information that is at our level.

I think that there is too much emphasis put on these types of test.
(eg TAAS TEKS TASP) I don∆t think that these types of test are worth the
while of students. I think that there needs to be more emphasis on the
individual person instead of making students become a standardized whole.

I think the consept of TAAS is a good idea. However after actualy
seeing it work its very poor. To many schools teach to the test. Schools want a
good rateing and the way to do this is make sure their students can pass the
TAAS test. The TAAS test's questions are simple. Most are common sence. So what
this does is the teachers teach us more common sence and less technical stuff.
In turn students actualy learn less. It has been turned into a joke. Destroying
our school systems. Something needs to be done to either fix this or banish the
test all together.

I think the TAAS is too easy for people that graduate today since we
are becoming a more technology based culture we should be given more difficult
tests that will have students today thinkng for themselves. The writing areas
of TAAS are mostly grammer and punctuation and some people. Maybe if we are
given a prompt that everyone can use theur own unique thoughts to answer
instead of writing a made-upstory that requires no thought at all. Give kids
something that will increase their ability to think things out and allow them
to show their thought on a particular subject. Make sure the subject is
something they have learned in school that every student that isnt just passing
through would be able to answer.

I think the TAAS test given to high school sophomores is overly easy
and doesn't show the education standards of today. My teachers would give us an
excercise in each class each Tueaday to prepare us for the TAAS test. It was
good practice but kind of a waste of time. I wasn't nervous at all when I was
taking it because I had so much practice I whizzed right through it. I actually
was able to exempt the TASP test due to my grades on the TAAS test. I honestly
think it should either be made harder or given to younger students. That way the
studying will be more worthwhile. I think anyone who speaks fluent English and
has an elementary education should be able to pass the TAAS test.

I think the TAAS test in general was a good thing because it allowed us
to be exempt from the TASP test. I agree with taking a writing part of the test
but I don't think we should have tho write in the five paragraph formant. The
TASS test is probably the only place we write in this style in college we write
in a MLA format. The five paragrah style is not helpful for later down the
road. The teachers in college have to reteach us how to write in MLA format
taking away from ohter teaching time. If we learned to write in MLA format from
the begining it would save us as well as teachers time.
I went to a summer class at [X] Junior College to recieve my 1301
credit

I think the TAAS test is a waist of time. all through highshcool and
middle school we spend all the time learning how to pass this test and not
proceeding with our eduacation. there is too much stress about passing so the
shcool will get money I have nothing to show for all the years of preping for
this test. the shcool needs to spend more time on learing how to express you
thoughts and expanding you mind not just taking multiple choice. those tests
dont make you think and understand they just letyou get by with the bair
minumum.

I think the TAAS test is a waste of valuble learning time. Basically
the whole school shuts down for this exam. Because all that matters is if you
pass the test or not all the teachers teach is material on the TAAS. All of
which I might add has not helped me in further classes. Also some students are
not good test takers so it is not fair to base graduation on this exam.

I think the TAAS test is beneficial to a certain degree. It becomes a
problem when way too much time is spent on the test. I remember doing worksheet
after worksheet of the same thing. Even if I got perfect scores on every single
one of the worksheets I would still get another one the next day. It took away
from class time that could of been spent on more important lessons that would
prepare us more for higher education. There needs to be limited time put aside
so there isn't so much wasted time.
