I really never had a problem with TAAS. I mean everything on them is
stuff you should have learned two years before. I took the exit level TAAS test
in 1999 and if memory seves me correct I passed every part of it. I usually
found alot of the reading parts to be easy for me. The math parts I will admit
I had a little trouble with but it wasn't too bad.

I really thought the TAAS was a waste of time to me. You go to school
you take tests and then you have another test on what you just took a test over
it really dosent make sence to me why we do have to take the TAAS test. But now
it is getting hard and they are adding more things and I think that is
redicious for improve the test isnt going to actually prove anything at all.
That is the way I look at the TAAS test.

I remember taking the TAAS test all through junior high and high
school. Yes it was a nerve racking experiance. First you never know what
exactly your up against. You know it's similar to what you have been learning
but you are always worried that you wont know something. To me there was no
real way to study for the test. I just tried to remember what I had been tought.
The test was such a big deal and played a large role in you grade. As I took
the exam all that I would think about was how important it was. So, of course I
went over the thing a million times. Just checking to make sure I was 100% sure
of my answers. Once it's turned in it's over. Then you get to sit and wait for
weeks to get you results. When you get your results all you can say is “I HOPE
I PASSED.” Fortunatlly, I never did bad on TAAS and I was able to exempt the
TASP test. Overall I do believe it was a good learning experience but I would
never want to do it again!
Thanks Alot

I respect the fact that there is some type of testing required to
advance in grade and/or postion in subjects. However I remember the TAAS test
to be fairly easy for level of education. Of course this is not the case for
many students and the TAAS helped greatly with them. I feel educated
individuals find other alternatives to develope there ability to learn as
opposed to students who see it as an attempt to pass a test. With this in mind
my opinion is of no use in this question.

I slept through the first half of each section of the TAAS Test and
woke up with just enough time to finish. There wasn't a whole lot of
preparation needed for this test and it took up a lot of valuable time in my
Sophomore English class that could have been used for something more useful and
more important.

I think that all the TAAS reviews we had in our high school english classes
took up too much time of our regular class time. We did TAAS reviews everyday
and it was horrible. Someone would always come over the P.A. system and say
"It's time for your TAAS reviews. Everyone stop what your doing and
review.” Sometimes we would be in the middle of reading a really good book or
watching a movie based on a book that we had finished already and there they
would start talking over that P.A. system. It was annoying. Taking the TAAS was
like any other test for me. When it finally came down to taking the TAAS test
it was easy. I never payed attention to any reviews; I just did them and then
turned them in, so I do not believe they help much. But that's just me. I
passed all my TAAS test with Acedemic Recognition so overall I do not think
TAAS reviews were a good educational experience. Maybe I am wrong but tell me
who is right?

I think that the TAAS is a very good standardized test. Even though I
didn't take the TAAS I took a alternate test It is a good test to place students
in there correct spotes. If we didn't have the TAAS we could have students in
classes or university where they didn't belong. I think that we should keep the
TAAS and not change the corriculm inside the test. People may complain that the
test may be to hard but its suppose to be hard. thats what I think.

I think that the TAAS test is a great test to have. Because you begin
taking it at a young age it allows teachers to see what areas you excell in and
what areas you need help in. My experience with TAAS hasn't been rough at all.
To me the TAAS test was easy. I've always passed TAAS with ease ad great
scores. In the 10th grade my last time taking TAAS I go academic recognition
for all three subjects. I also made a perfect score in math and missed one
question in writing and reading. The reading and writing porion of the test was
a breeze. It was only context clues main idea sequence and definitions. Overall
the TAAS test seemed easy but not everybody passes it.

I think that the TAAS test is a useless atempt to try to get students
into learning. Now that I say that I don't even know if that's what you would
call it. In my school all we did was prepare for this test that had all this
hype behind it. When the day of the test finally arrived I was surprised to
discover that the test was easy. Except for the math portion. Math is my
downfall. I think that it is truely unfair that you have to make a certain
grade or it haunts you for the rest of your life. I had to take the TASP test
because I failed to meet the required grade in the math portion by four points!
Not only did I have to take it once, I had to take it three times. I think it
was such a waste of my time. I had to do this again because of the math
section. I do not feel that I should be punished because I do not excell in
math. I got very high marks on the other sections of both tests. I'm not going
to be a math major. Why should I have to be faced with the possibility of
having to be placed in a “special” course in college because I had bad math
teachers? Is that my fault? I tried to get help, but like I said math is just
not my thing. I don't think that I am the only person that had trouble in math
classes. Everyone is good at certain things and I think that these tests punish
children for not being the best at everything. I also think that they should be
done away with completely and a new alternative test should be made.

I think that the TAAS test is a waste of our time. We already have to
take so many tests in our highschool career I don't see why anyone would want
to stress over a test that will determine if you are going to graduate or not.
I don't like the fact that the TAAS test is made out to be such a big deal when
it is a very easy test. Our whole freshmen year all we did was TAAS practice it
was pointless.
