I moved to Texas a little into my senior year in high school. As a result I had little time to prepare for the TAAS but it wasn't at all difficult. I recieved Academic recognition in reading and math portions and placed ten points under the line to exempt me from taking the TASP in writing. The only thing I didn't care for was the way it was administered.

I moved to Texas right before my freshman year in High school. I had never taken the TAAS test before. durign my freshman english class my teacher started to teach us the TAAS format for writing. I would look at it and the first thing I thought of was that I had learned how to write like that in the fifth grade. The TAAS test tests you on basic knowlege that you should have aquired by the end of Junior High. My first two year of High School felt very pointless because I had already known this stuff. all of my teachers would prepare us in class for the test and we would learn anymore than what was on the test. by the time we were done studying for the tests the semester was almost over. I feel that my writing skill would be a lot stronger and better today if I hadn't wasted two years "learning" to write in a format that I had been writing in for years. I didn't like the format of CD (concrete detail) CM (commentary). It restricted my learning as a whole and I don't respect things like that. I was placed in pre AP classes my freshman and sophomore years and we still had to go over the TAAS format for several weeks. I personally think that taking the TAAS test half way through high school is a waste of time. we should know this stuff by the end of jr high so we should have taken it our freshman year.

I never really liked the TAAS writing section. The things we had to write about were pretty dumb. Also everything that our teachers would try to teach us about would not even be the same type of writng. I had to take this class because I was 5-10 points under the average score. All in all I did well except for the last one I had to take. When I had to take the TAAS in grade school I was usually excited. Because I was a little kid and I liked taking test. So when I got to junior high and high school and took the test and I would get a little stressed out. Overall I learned quite a bit so I should not complain.

I never took the TAAS since I'm from Mississippi. I did however take the FLE (Functional Literacy Exam) which I guess is the same thing. My feelings toward it are that one would have to be retarded to fail that test. With questions like “What is a dentist?”

I never took the TAAS test because I went to a private school all of my life. I placed out of the TASP test because of my score on the ACT. I didn't even study for the ACT so I can't really tell you. I was nervous waiting for my results but thats about it. I guess it was a good educational experience.

I never took the TAAS test I attended private school. I took the SAT and the ACT and I studied hard for both of those. I bought books that gave tips and statgies for taking the tests and they helped me prepare.

I never took the TAAS test. Unless I'm wrong I think it is a public school thing and I went to a private school. I did however do extensive preparation for AP tests.

I was in a pre-AP English class my sophomore year with a drill sargent for a teacher. In that class MLA format sentence structure and every other basic writing skill was pounded into my head. He was an awesome teacher though and I learned a lot about Literature.

I was in AP English my junior and senior years but my teachers were completely different. The teacher my junior year probably knew less about English than we did. It was basically a blow off class and I didn't take the AP Language test that year because I didn't feel at all ready or confident taht I would make a 3 or higher.

Senior year was a different story. My teacher had a passion for novels and writing and her enthusiasm definitely rubbed off on me. We did timed writings about every week along with a few multiple choice practices to get ready for the AP Literature test. She graded hard on our essays and when I looked back at them I could definitely see an improvement from the beginning of the year to the end. I really didn't like all the preparation we had to do mainly becasue it got so tedious but it was worth it in the end and I am thankful to my teacher for pushing me to write better in that class.

I did end up taking that AP test and I made a 4 so I won't be in English next semester. I really regret not going back and taking the AP Language test because I possibly could have tested out of this semester as well. But since they are so expensive I was only able to take one English test and the Calculus one.

I obtained a four on the writing section of my TAAS test. I felt like the writing section of the TAAS test was an accurate judge of whether or not a student is competent. Whenever a student writes an essay all of their academic flaws are out in the open. There is no multiple choice there is no word bank. Writing is important in all aspects of life and if a student cannot write a simple five paragraph essay they are not ready to graduate from high school. On the multiple choice writing section you are not given any exact guidance. For a student who is not skilled in grammer this section of the test could prove tricky. The math and reading sections of the TAAS are also tricky for those students who are not skilled in those areas. No matter how great or terrible the TAAS test proves to be I think that it is ridiculous to put so much emphasis on one test. A school could be an exemplary learning institution but will not be classified as so unless all of their students do well on the TAAS test. Different students are good at taking different types of tests. I have known students who did not master all sections of the TAAS but made straight A's in their classes. I do not think that the TAAS is a bad test but I don't think it should be the only factor for determining the quality of a school district.

I passed the TAAS when I was a sophmore. This gave me the oppurtunity to go to the beach the next few years. Now people are taking the TASKS when some people can't pass the TAAS.

I past the TAAS my first time taking it. The test was an OK experience for me meaning that it helped me in some ways for college but not enough. In my English class I use my wrting techniques that I used on the TAAS test but it wasn't what the teacher was looking for. I really did not prepare for the TAAS test and wasn't sure if I was going to pass or not. While taking the test I found it to be easy and undestandable. When I got my test back I was surprised that I past with out studying for it but my scores were not mastered they were barrly at the passing score. If I would have studied for it I probably would have mastered the Test
